A fireplace broke out Wednesday on the USS New Orleans warship off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, leaving two sailors with minor accidents.
The fireplace on the amphibious transport dock ship has been extinguished and its trigger is beneath investigation, the US Navy’s seventh Fleet mentioned in a press release.
The fireplace on the 684-foot-long vessel lasted nearly 12 hours, igniting because the USS New Orleans was in water close to White Beach Naval Facility in Okinawa.
