
Archaeologists uncover uncommon Christian artifact on distant island amid luxurious resorts
A uncommon cross was not too long ago uncovered within the United Arab Emirates, shedding gentle on Christian historical past through the early Islamic period.
The discovery, made at Sir Bani Yas Island within the Persian Gulf, was introduced by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism in August.
The island accommodates a wide range of luxurious resorts and wildlife reserves. Though distant, Sir Bani Yas Island continues to be accessible through water taxis or personal planes.
Officials famous in a launch that the invention was a part of the primary excavation on the island in 30 years. The cross was linked to a neighborhood Christian monastery constructed between the seventh and eighth centuries.
