
Peru’s president eliminated by Congress, successor vows ‘war on crime’
Peru’s lawmakers swore in Congress chief Jose Jeri because the nation’s new president lower than an hour after unanimously voting to take away President Dina Boluarte, as anger mounted over rising crime and accusations of corruption.
One of the world’s least well-liked leaders was ousted shortly after midnight on Friday, simply hours after numerous political blocs first offered motions for Boluarte’s elimination on grounds of ethical incapacity.
The vote befell after a number of members of well-liked cumbia music group Agua Marina have been injured in a taking pictures throughout a live performance held on Wednesday in a venue belonging to the Peruvian army.
