
Kanchha Sherpa, final remaining member of authentic Mount Everest expedition group, useless at 92
Kanchha Sherpa, the final surviving member of the mountaineering expedition group that first conquered Mount Everest, died early Thursday, based on the Nepal Mountaineering Association.
Kanchha died at age 92 at his residence in Kapan within the Kathmandu district of Nepal, confirmed Phur Gelje Sherpa, the affiliation president.
“He passed away peacefully at his residence,” Phur Gelje Sherpa advised The Associated Press, including that he had been unwell for a while. “A chapter of the mountaineering history has vanished with him.”
Last rites shall be held Monday, he stated.
