Lithuania suspended air visitors at Vilnius Airport late on Tuesday resulting from a presence of dozens of smugglers’ balloons in its airspace, the nation’s National Crisis Management Centre (NCMC) stated in a press release.

European aviation has repeatedly been thrown into chaos in latest weeks by drone sightings and air incursions, together with at airports in Copenhagen, Munich and the Baltic area.

“Operations have been disrupted due to weather balloons used to smuggle cigarettes from Belarus,” the NCMC stated in its assertion, including that passengers have been requested to comply with official airport info.
