Gaza’s ‘horrific, unmapped minefield’ has killed dozens and will take a long time to clear: consultants
War-torn Gaza is roofed in a lethal “minefield” of hidden unexploded units that has already killed greater than 53 individuals and will take 20 to 30 years to clear, in accordance with consultants.
Nick Orr, an explosive ordnance disposal professional on the Humanity & Inclusion humanitarian help group, described the Gaza Strip as a “horrific, unmapped minefield,” likening it to British cities following World War II.
“If you’re looking at a full clearance, it’s never happening,” Orr stated of the hassle to clear the mines. “We will find it for generations to come.”
