Dozens of cruise ship passengers had been left stranded at sea after their 40-foot catamaran sank off the coast of the Dominican Republic, officers mentioned.

The ship, named Boca de Yuma, was touring within the Samaná Bay on Sunday when a breach occurred within the hull and the vessel started taking up water, the Dominican Navy mentioned in a press release.

Video and pictures of the scene present the terrified passengers leaping out of the cruise ship catamaran and desperately swimming in the direction of close by boats and rescue ships for assist.
