Sudan’s high normal rejects US-led cease-fire proposal, calling it ‘the worst yet’
CAIRO — Sudan’s high normal rejected a cease-fire proposal offered by U.S.-led mediators as “the worst yet,” in a blow to efforts to cease a devastating battle that has gripped the African nation for over 30 months.
In video feedback launched by the army late Sunday, Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan stated the proposal was unacceptable, accusing the mediators of being “biased” of their efforts to finish the battle.
Sudan plunged into chaos in April 2023 when an influence wrestle between the army and the highly effective paramilitary Rapid Support Forces exploded into open combating within the capital, Khartoum, and elsewhere within the nation.
