Belarus frees Nobel Peace Prize laureate, opposition chief, different political prisoners
VILNIUS, Lithuania — Belarusian authorities on Saturday freed Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ales Bialiatski, key opposition determine Maria Kolesnikova and different distinguished political prisoners, a human rights group confirmed.
Their launch comes as authoritarian President Alexander Lukashenko seeks to enhance relations with Washington.
The US earlier on Saturday introduced lifting sanctions on the nation’s potash sector. In change, Lukashenko pardoned a complete of 123 prisoners, the Belta state information company reported.
