Pope Leo XIV ‘very disappointed’ after his dwelling state of Illinois approves assisted suicide regulation
Pope Leo XIV mentioned Tuesday he was “very disappointed” after his dwelling state of Illinois accepted a regulation permitting medically assisted suicide.
Leo, who grew up in Chicago, mentioned he had spoken “explicitly” with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker whereas the laws was on his desk and urged him to not signal the invoice into regulation, saying the measure undermines respect for human life from “the very beginning to the very end.”
“Unfortunately, for different reasons, he decided to sign that bill,” Leo instructed reporters outdoors Rome. “I am very disappointed about that.”
