Dozens of Islamic State suspects plotting Christmas and New Year’s assaults detained in Turkey
ISTANBUL — Istanbul police launched scores of simultaneous raids on Thursday, detaining over 100 suspected members of the militant Islamic State group who had been allegedly planning assaults towards Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, authorities stated.
A press release from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office stated police had been tipped off that the extremist group had referred to as for motion — notably towards non-Muslims — in the course of the celebrations.
