A joyful Christmas feast turned tragic when a person in Italy choked to loss of life on a chunk of panettone whereas celebrating together with his household, authorities mentioned Friday.

Giovanni Lopez, 47, was having fun with the vacation lunch at his mother and father’ house within the tiny northern city of Settimo Torinese on Dec. 24 when a chunk of panettone — a conventional dessert stuffed with candied fruits and contemporary orange — bought lodged in his airway and he collapsed, NewsFlash Media reported.

Frantic kinfolk tried to dislodge the chew to no avail earlier than calling an ambulance at round 2:30 p.m.
