A Delta Air Lines flight made an emergency touchdown on a distant island off the coast of Portugal after struggling engine points mid-flight. 

The Airbus A330, working as Delta Flight 127, was headed from Madrid to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday when it made an emergency touchdown at Lajes Airport on Terceira Island.

The island is within the Azores, which is an autonomous area of Portugal consisting of 9 volcanic islands.
