An historical Roman mosaic has not too long ago revealed a millennia-old depiction of flip-flops – displaying that sure footwear has all the time been in fashion.

The discovery was introduced by the Archaeological Park of Morgantina and the Villa Romana del Casale on Aug. 4.

The villa, an historical Roman property, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and is situated in Piazza Armerina, a central Sicilian city.

The villa is known for holding the most important assortment of Roman mosaics on this planet. 

“During recent excavation work, two sandals depicted in a mosaic were discovered, resembling modern flip-flops,” stated a press release translated from Italian concerning the newly unearthed mosaic.
