A jaw-dropping discovery.

A 1.8 million-year-old human jawbone has been unearthed within the hills of Georgia — and scientists say the fossil might provide main clues into a few of the earliest prehistoric human settlements in Eurasia.

The historical mandible was uncovered by archaeologists on the Orozmoni web site, roughly 62 miles southwest of the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, in a prehistoric goldmine smaller than two parking areas.

Experts imagine the bone could also be one of many oldest stays of early people excavated exterior of Africa, providing clues to the patterns of Homo erectus, a hunter-gatherer species that scientists imagine started migrating roughly two million years in the past.
