Torrential rains unleashed flash floods and triggered landslides on Indonesia’s Sumatra island, killing at the least 10 individuals and leaving six others lacking, police mentioned Wednesday.

Rescue groups have been struggling to achieve affected areas in six regencies of North Sumatra province after the monsoon rains over the previous week prompted rivers to burst their banks, tearing by means of hilly villages as mud, rocks and bushes tumbled down, leaving destruction of their wake, the National Police mentioned in a press release.
