Australian man arrested after setting native church altar on fireplace, costing $75K in injury
A Victorian man has been arrested lower than 24 hours after a regional church was set alight in a brazen assault.
CCTV from contained in the Cathedral of Christ the King church in Ballarat captured a male showing to pour accelerant from a purple jerry can earlier than igniting furnishings shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday.
According to Victoria Police, the fireplace was rapidly extinguished by church employees, with police estimating the injury invoice at $75,000.
“The incident is not believed to be religiously motivated,” a spokesman mentioned.
