A German girl who stole the highest of an historic Greek column greater than half a century in the past has returned it to Greece — ending a decades-long absence for the two,400-year-old artifact taken from the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

The Ionic column capital, product of limestone and measuring about 9 inches excessive and 13 inches large, was taken from the Leonidaion, a 4th-century BC guesthouse in Ancient Olympia.

Greek officers stated the relic was handed again throughout a ceremony on Friday on the Ancient Olympia Conference Center, after the lady voluntarily surrendered it to the University of Münster in Germany, which organized its repatriation.
