
Putin says he’s open to one-year extension of US arms management treaty limiting nations’ nuclear weapons

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claimed Monday that he’s amenable to a one-year extension of the arms management treaty with the US that limits the variety of nuclear weapons the 2 nations have of their arsenals.
Putin stated he would again an extension of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START, if President Trump agrees to it as properly.
The overture comes as New START, which limits the nukes either side can posses, is about to run out on Feb. 5, 2026.
