A handful of TikTok videos have sparked concern among Texas Roadhouse diners after users claimed their steaks arrived unusually mushy, with some even likening the texture to an abscess or meat paste.

The clips show sirloins that collapse rather than slice cleanly, leading to widespread speculation about potential causes.

One TikTok creator showed a takeout sirloin that broke apart like a meat spread, not beef. Viewers reacted with disgust, and many commented that the texture alone could end any steak craving.

There is currently no verified evidence that the steaks shown in the videos came from a sick animal, and food safety experts caution against drawing medical conclusions from appearance alone.

Diners in the TikToks said the steak tasted off and had a strange smell. As they cut into it, the meat mushed rather than slicing cleanly. Folks shared theories, with some worried the cut came from a sick animal and others blaming low-grade beef or improper storage.

Texas Roadhouse rejected the abscess rumor, telling the Daily Dot via email: “Our meat cutters hand-cut steaks every day in our restaurants so guests receive high-quality fresh product.”

“We spoke with the guest and explained that these steaks were over-tenderized,” the spokesperson continued.

“When the over-tenderized steaks sat covered in the to-go pan, they continued to cook until they were very overcooked. It resulted in the soft texture seen in the video.”

“Literally just happened to me at Texas Roadhouse in Wisconsin!” another comment claimed. “I didn’t even see this or know about it until my Husband told me! Like I’m disgusted with food!! 🤢🤮”

“I’d call Texas Roadhouse immediately and tell them that if I found them to sell another steak like this I’d be calling the health department and food administration!!!!” wrote a fourth TikToker.

Texas Roadhouse did not respond immediately to the Daily Dot’s request for comment via email.
